Mr M Goodall -

I've been working at St Bartholomew's on and off since 2010. I started at the school as a supply teacher and then my career took me to another couple of schools before coming back to St. Bartholomew's as a Reception class teacher in 2012. I absolutely love working here and have enjoyed teaching children of all age groups. I especially love opportunities to bring learning to life and giving children memorable experiences, whether that is by going on a trip to Harry Potter Studios and learning what it would be like to be a witch or a wizard, going on a Minpin hunt at Forest School or dressing up as a superhero when I'm teaching about the adventures of Traction Man. Talking of superheroes, something that everyone needs to know about me is that I absolutely love superheroes, especially Batman. Much to Mrs Goodall's annoyance my house is full of Batman Lego. I also love keeping fit and playing lots of sports, from football to competing in Tough Mudders and Wolf Runs. My favourite football team is Aston Villa and I enjoy being able to watch them whenever I can. I've also been able to do lots of travelling, from watching Borussia Dortmund to cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I have two amazing children, my little girl Nell and my son, Joel who dressed up as Robin to my Batman on Halloween! We also have two pet tortoises called Frank and Flash who like to visit classes in school regularly.

As well as my role as Head of School, I have also been a KS1 moderator for the county, Outstanding Teacher Practitioner and Facilitator and Specialist Leader in Education where I specialise in teaching and learning.

Nik Furnival - Early Years Lead/DDSL

I have worked at St Barts for 10 years, beginning my journey as a Teaching Assistant in reception class. The school leaders were a great support to me and offered much encouragement for me to gain my degree and teaching qualification 5 years ago. After teaching in Nursery for many years, I currently teach the Reception class which I absolutely love alongside supporting both nursery classes within my Early Years Phase Leader role.

I feel very privileged to teach our youngest children, working closely with the team to create awe and wonder for children each day and making their school experience one to remember.

I have been extremely lucky to experience St. Barts as both a member of staff and a parent. Both of my children enjoyed being pupils here and St. Barts provided them with a great start to their education.

Outside of school, most of my time is spent watching my children from the sideline participating in their sports activities but when I do have spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

Kirsti Goodall - Mental Health Lead

I started as an NQT at St Bartholomew's and I am now the Upper KS2 Leader. I have worked here for 15 years and have seen many children grow both academically and personally during this time. My real passions are Maths and the emotional wellbeing of our children and that is why I am currently the KS2 Maths leader and a trained Thrive practitioner.

Personally, I am a bit of a book-worm - my favourite genre being psychological thrillers and my favourite author being Dean Kootz. This makes me really passionate in school about the children opening their minds to these creative and alternative worlds that you can enter into at the turn of a page.

I love taking the children out on trips and residentials and have completed many during my time as a class teacher in KS2 - from Harry Potter Studios to the valleys of Wales. I feel this is the time when children can really push their boundaries, broaden their horizons and feel really proud of their personal achievements.

Erin Watkins - Assistant Head of School/DDSL

I was thrilled to join the St Bart’s team as Assistant Headteacher in September 2024 and since then have loved getting to know the children, families,staff and community at this wonderful school. I absolutely love my job and I am so passionate about teaching and learning and how, by making children’s learning meaningful, engaging and exciting, we really can get the most out of them- setting them up as ‘learners for life’. Having taught for 17 years and during that time have taken on many roles including; subject leader in a variety of subjects; curriculum development; phase leader; Trust Improvement Leader for SAET as well as my ongoing role as part of the SCITT Primary English Team - coming to St Bart’s is the next exciting step of my teaching journey and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me here.

Outside of school, I am kept very busy by my three wonderful children and my cheeky French Bulldog. I love travelling, food, dance, theatre, reading, art and making memories with my family and friends. I take far too many photos and always get told off for this- but the best experiences and adventures are worth remembering, I think!

Our Governance

Each school in the state system has a Governing Body. The Governing Body at St Bartholomew's plays a key role in helping oversee the strategic direction of the school and works in partnership with the Head teacher and her Senior Leadership Team. The main aim of a Governing Body is to ensure the delivery of a high standard of education for all the pupils in its care.

'Our' governors have an excellent knowledge of the school before and after school.

As members of the local community they are ambitious for all the children within the school and take their responsibility for the strategic direction of the school very seriously.

Full meetings of the Governing Body take place five times per year. In addition, all governors maintain regular contact with lead staff in their ‘link areas’ and visit the school on a regular basis to monitor and support the school’s vision and priorities.

The overarching role of the governing body is to ensure school improvement, aligned to the school’s Improvement Plan, and this is divided into 3 main roles:

1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils

3. Supporting the Trust in making sure its money is well spent

To keep their knowledge and skills up to scratch governors attend a number of training sessions each year including Safeguarding. Half termly Trust governor briefing take place and provide all governors with the latest information, knowledge and updates to ensure effective governance. At St Bartholomew’s, as a Church of England school, governors also access training through the Diocese. All governor training is logged on the SAET Governor Hub portal.

Tim Haywood

Tim has lived in Stourport for 25 years, is a keen rower for Stourport Boat Club and a long-time member of Areley Kings Players.

Tim was Finance Director of a number of private sector listed businesses in construction, support services and regeneration during his 30-year executive career. With a lifelong commitment to fairness and doing the right thing, he was also increasingly attracted to the wider issues of sustainability within those businesses, and became the only FTSE250 Finance Director in the UK to hold the role of Head of Sustainability. This in turn led to Tim’s appointment as HRH Prince of Wales’ Ambassador for Responsible Business, and Chairman of Sustainability West Midlands.

Now Tim has moved out of the corporate world, having stopped the regular commuting from Stourport to London, and is living a very different life running Astley Vineyard with his family.

Nikki Furnival

I joined St Bartholomew's in January 2014 and already had two children attending the school who were thriving and loved attending. I was firstly employed as a teaching assistant and then In 2019 I went back to university and completed my degree and then my teacher training, qualifying in 2021. I now teach in the Acorns Nursery Class and absolutely love watching and supporting the children as they explore the environment and develop their skills and knowledge each day.

St Bartholomew's has supported me greatly on my journey into teaching and becoming a staff governor was my opportunity to give something back alongside my teaching role.

When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my family, We like to travel to around in our caravan finding new places to explore.

Gemma Brown

I have worked in Education for the past fifteen years and have been a Class Teacher, English and Phase Leader and DSL and Learning Advocate for The Virtual School in Worcestershire. I am now the Senior Teacher at the MET (Medical Education Team) in Worcester and am passionate about enabling children to learn in a way that is best suited for them.

I have two grown up children and a foster child and like to think of myself as a professional Mum! My house is always filled with children and young people - sometimes my children’s friends and other times children we have previously fostered - and that is just the way I like it; I believe it is an absolute privilege to work with children and I know the staff at St. Bart’s feel the same; this is just one of the reasons it is such a wonderful school.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family, travelling to other countries, reading and going on long walks with my beloved dog Rudy, who is a very cute Cavapoo.

Clarissa Nailer

Larri is a Foundation Governor appointed by the Perochial Church Council.

I was born in in Kidderminster on 09/10/1943 and attended Lea St School and then Kidderminster High School for girls from Sept 1954 to July 1961.
I attended Hull University 1961 - 1964. and graduated in 1964 with Honours in Special Degree Theology, Ancillary degree Psychology.

I completed a Diploma in Education in 1965 and moved to London, married and had my son. I taught at St Martins Mill Hill NW7. 1969 - 2007
In 1978 I re-married and became wife of Peter Nailer who died June 2023.
I have 3 granddaughters, 1 in Brussels, 1 in Exeter and 1 in Peacehaven.

I am a member of St Barts church serving on its PCC, I bowl at Stourport Bowling Green Club. Sport has always been integral to my life playing Junior County Hockey for Worcestershire, Squash, golf and in in later years bowls.
